1. Who should attend the session?
GAME-Family support group sessions are designed for family members, friends and individuals who are concerned about their loved ones with gambling problems.
These sessions offer a supportive and understanding space where caregivers can openly share their experiences, learn from others, and receive support from others who may be facing similar challenges in caregiving.
2. Is there a counsellor available during the session?
Group sessions are led by both a NAMS Counsellor and a Peer Support Volunteer.
3. How frequent are the sessions held?
The sessions are held twice a month, on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, excluding eve of public holidays and public holidays.
4. What is the typical attendance for the group?
Attendance varies from week to week, usually with a maximum of around 8 attendees.
5. What takes place during the session?
During the session, peer support volunteer and participants will share their experiences. A NAMS counsellor will also be there to lead and support the group.
6. In which language are the sessions conducted?
The sessions are conducted in English.
7. Will my personal information be recorded?
Your name and contact number will only be collected for contact tracing purposes.
8. Is one session enough?
While attending one session can be helpful, it may not provide enough support for managing gambling addiction. We strongly encourage coming regularly until you achieve your goals.
9. What if I miss a session?
We understand that not everyone may make it to every session. If you miss one, you are welcome to join us from the next session.
10. Are there specific group guidelines?
The support group is dedicated to creating a safe environment by following principles such as confidentiality, respectful communication, active listening, a non-judgemental attitude, showing empathy, and promoting equality. Our goal is to build a secure and supportive space where participants can share their experiences confidentially.
To join the support group, registration is necessary.
