$273.60 (inclusive of GST) Two tea breaks per day will be provided.

Lunch will not be provided and participants can make their way to the canteen or nearby food courts/coffee shops

​Synopsis:

Using interactive learning, videos & group discussion, participants will be ready to assess, screen & evaluate for gambling problems among their clients. They will also have a better understanding of why they became addicted to gambling and continue despite facing losses. The following will be covered in the workshop:

  • Definitions of gambling 
  • Types of problem gamblers 
  • Gambling disorder as a brain disease 
  • Progression of the gambling disorder
  • Co-morbid and co-occurring disorders
  • Use of Screening & assessment tools
  • Talking about financial issues
  • Creating a safety net
  • Understanding barriers to treatment
  • Motivational enhancement techniques to engage gamblers for treatment
  • Early warning signs of relapse
  • Overview of the psychological interventions and social support available 
  • Understanding the impact of gambling on the family
  • Special population: Adolescents & Elderly
