Synopsis:
Group psychotherapy can be as effective as individual psychotherapy. Some clients might actually benefit more from group than individual therapy because change happens within a social context of peers. How does group therapy work? How is it different from support groups and self-help groups? What makes group therapy so powerful, and how can we harness the power of the group to bring about positive change? This course is an introduction into group work and group facilitation which focuses on therapy. It equips participants with the basic knowledge and skills required to start a therapy group and help it to grow. This course is targeted for psychologists, counsellors and social workers who wish to conduct group psychotherapy sessions with their clients.

Note: Participants are required to be active participants in the group process and will be part of a stimulated therapist support group.
Suitable For:Psychologists, counsellors and social workers who wish to conduct group psychotherapy sessions with their clients.
